California Passes 'Donda West Law'

California state lawmakers have recently passed a bill that will prohibit electronic cosmetic facial surgery without a physical examination being done within 30 days of the procedure.

The bill has been titled the Donda West Law (Kanye Westโ€™s mother), who passed away in November of 2007 due to complications following her surgery [click to read]. Shortly after her death, it was revealed that West had not received medical clearance prior to her surgical operation [click to read].

Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter, primary author of the bill, told the Los Angeles Times, โ€œSometimes patients may think they are well enough for cosmetic surgery, but in reality are not. This bill will potentially save lives.โ€
